Creating Environments for Excellence in Nursing Writing Assignment
Each student will complete an 800- to 1000-word scholarly paper (not including Title and References pages) presenting an evidence-based case for what they determine as two best strategies towards Creating Environments for Excellence in Nursing. The paper is to focus on suggested themes, presented appropriately with APA headings for a Student Scholarly Paper. Proper use of headings will help to organize the paper and reinforce consistency for the reader. (Refer to pages 47-49, Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, 7th Edition for formatting levels of headings.)
Students are expected to address themes by applying concepts and analytical understanding gained in a literature search of current and acceptable journal articles, videos or research, and any assigned course readings. A minimum of five references should be used. Three of these sources should be from peer-reviewed articles. To help organize the paper, focus on the following:
1) Introduction
Examine sustainable and economical strategies to develop professional environments that enhance nursing excellence and promote patient-centered care. Discuss the circumstances that contribute to unhealthy (nursing) work environments. Include current challenges faced by nurses and choose two viable strategies / opportunities for creating a supportive working environment that retains nurses while promoting safe, high-quality care.
2) State your first strategy or opportunity for creating an environment of nursing excellence.
Explain the reason you feel this is a second sustainable and economical strategy to develop professional environments that enhance nursing excellence and promote patient-centered care. Backed by evidence, present the benefits of this strategy. Consider any potential threats to your specific strategy and present realistic, yet creative solutions to possible barriers. Make certain, of course, to cite and credit your sources.
3) State your second strategy or opportunity for creating an environment of nursing excellence.
Explain the reason you feel this second strategy is a sustainable and economical strategy to develop professional environments that enhance nursing excellence and promote patient-centered care. Backed by evidence, present the benefits of this strategy. Consider any potential threats to your specific strategy and present realistic, yet creative solutions to possible barriers. Make certain, of course, to cite and credit your sources.
4) Summary or Conclusion
Present your final statement /conclusion in a way that summarizes content while, at the same time, leaves the reader with a positive, lasting impression. Make your best effort to avoid a ‘copy and paste’ approach to the summary. By posing a question or delivering a thought-provoking final statement, the reader will remain engaged and (ideally!) interested enough in your topic to research and explore further…they may even be prompted to take action!
